State Senator Sam Singh Endorses Bridget Brink for Congress
Senator Singh: “I support Bridget Brink because I know she can beat Tom Barrett and stand up for the mid-Michigan families that the Congressman abandoned.”
LANSING, MI – Today, State Senator and Majority Floor Leader Sam Singh endorsed Bridget Brink for Congress in Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District.
“Ambassador Bridget Brink is the type of leader we need in Washington, DC. When the Trump administration undermined Ukraine and harmed our national security, she refused to go along — and she resigned her position at the detriment to her career. That’s not just integrity. That’s the courage we need fighting for us in Congress,” said State Senator Sam Singh. “The granddaughter of a Lansing autoworker and daughter of an MEA teacher, Bridget is a third-generation union member who served our country for nearly 30 years — from Obama’s National Security Council to U.S. Ambassador in a war zone — before resigning in protest of Trump. I support Bridget Brink because I know she can beat Tom Barrett and stand up for the mid-Michigan families that the Congressman abandoned. She will fight to restore funding from the devastating cuts to Medicaid, ACA tax credits, and food assistance. Let’s unite behind a fighter like Bridget Brink to take back Michigan's 7th District in Congress."
“From his work as a non-profit leader, City Councilmember, Mayor, State Representative, and now as a State Senator, Sam Singh has dedicated his life serving our community," said Bridget Brink, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine and Democrat running for Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District. “Senator Singh represents the very best of mid-Michigan, and I am honored and humbled to receive his endorsement.”
State Senator Sam Singh represents over 250,000 residents of Ingham, Clinton, and Shiawassee Counties (nearly ⅓ of the 7th Congressional District) in the Michigan State Senate and serves as Majority Floor Leader. He previously served in the State House of Representatives from 2013 to 2018 and served as the House Democratic Leader from 2017 to 2018. Over the past 30 years, Singh has made a career of supporting the mid-Michigan area through his work with philanthropy, public service and nonprofit board service. In 1995, at the age of 24, he was elected to the East Lansing City Council where he served three terms, one as Mayor. He has also served as president and CEO of the Michigan Nonprofit Association, senior consultant for the New Economy Initiative, and CEO of Public Policy Associates. Singh is a graduate of Michigan State University and lives in East Lansing with his wife, Kerry, and their son, Remy.
