Lansing Mayor Andy Schor Endorses Bridget Brink for Congress
Mayor Schor: “She will be a fighter for mid-Michigan in Congress for us, and not for party or the President.”
LANSING, MI – Today, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor endorsed Bridget Brink for Congress in Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District.
“I am excited to support Bridget Brink’s candidacy for the 7th Congressional District. Bridget understands that people are hurting right now with skyrocketing costs of groceries and food, gas at the pump, and so many other necessities,” said Lansing Mayor Andy Schor. “We need someone who can fight for affordability for our residents, and who understands how both national and international factors impact these costs. As the former U.S. Ambassador to wartime Ukraine, she understands the impacts of poorly planned wars initiated by the President and how they are impacting our daily lives and pockets. She will be a fighter for mid-Michigan in Congress for us, and not for party or the President. I look forward to working with her as Mayor, and seeing her votes and work in Congress for the 7th Congressional District.”
“I am honored and humbled to earn the endorsement of our fantastic Mayor, Andy Schor," said Bridget Brink, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine and Democrat running for Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District. “During his time on the Ingham County Commission, in the State House, and now at City Hall, Mayor Schor has dedicated his life to serving our community. Lansing is on the rise thanks to Mayor Schor’s leadership and I look forward to working closely with him to continue to improve the lives of all of our neighbors in Lansing and throughout the 7th District.”
Andy Schor is serving in his third term as Mayor of Lansing. Under Schor’s leadership Lansing has grown significantly even through a pandemic, with approximately $2 billion in new investment from projects both completed and in progress. Lansing was named the number one affordable city to live in the United States based on high quality of life and low cost of living, as well as one of the top cities to live in after the COVID-19 pandemic. He currently serves as National Co-Chair for the Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Everytown for Gun Safety, Accelerator of America Board, the U.S. Conference of Mayors advisory board, the Lansing Promise Board, Co-Chair of the National Gun Safety Consortium, and the City of Lansing Employees and Police and Fire Retirement System Board of Trustees.
Mayor Schor previously served for four terms as an Ingham County Commissioner and for three terms as a State Representative. Andy and his wife, Erin, have raised their family here and have lived in Lansing for nearly 30 years. Their children attended the Lansing School District, both graduating from Lansing Everett High School. Andy graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, earning a Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and history.
