Governor Jennifer Granholm Endorses Bridget Brink for Congress in MI-07

Gov. Granholm: “I have seen firsthand that Bridget Brink has the grit, savvy, and backbone to beat Tom Barrett and deliver for Michigan families.”

LANSING, MI – Today, former Democratic Governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm, who served as U.S. Secretary of Energy under President Joe Biden, endorsed Democrat Bridget Brink for Congress in Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District.

“I have seen firsthand that Bridget Brink has the grit, savvy, and backbone to beat Tom Barrett and deliver for Michigan families,” said Jennifer Granholm, former Governor of Michigan and U.S. Secretary of Energy. “Raised by a single mom here in Michigan, Bridget became the first woman to serve as U.S. Ambassador in a war zone. When Trump demanded she help capitulate to Putin, Bridget resigned in protest, sacrificed her career, and came back home to Michigan to fight back. That’s the bold leadership that Bridget will bring to Congress. I’m proud to endorse her campaign for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.”

“I am incredibly honored to receive Governor Jennifer Granholm’s endorsement," said Bridget Brink, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine and Democrat running for Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District. “I had the privilege of working with Governor Granholm when she was our U.S. Secretary of Energy, and know the qualities that enabled her to lead our state through the Great Recession as Governor and supercharge America's transition to clean energy as Secretary. She is a visionary leader, a coalition builder, and a uniquely effective communicator. Her support for our campaign to beat Tom Barrett, put an end to Trump’s chaos and corruption, and deliver for mid-Michigan families means the world to me.”

Bridget was recently endorsed by the Detroit Free Press: “[She] is most likely to achieve Democrats' goal of attracting independent and crossover support, and flipping the sharply divided district from red to blue in November.” Not only do her “qualifications set her apart,” she is the one “willing to stand up to Donald Trump.” “[Brink’s] campaign is focused on the domestic issues that can affect the daily lives of her constituents in the central Michigan district, centered on Lansing and encompassing mostly rural surrounding areas.”

Brink’s 60th total endorsement follows her best fundraising quarter to date, raising over $630,000 in the second quarter. As polling that shows Brink with a double-digit lead in the MI-07 primary, the Cook Political Report recently highlighted Brink’s momentum, describing her as “the quintessential Trump resister.”
