Former State Representative Joan Bauer Endorses Bridget Brink for Congress

Bauer: “Bridget Brink is exactly who we need in Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district.”

LANSING, MI – Today, Joan Bauer, former State Representative and former Lansing City Council Member, endorsed Bridget Brink for Congress.

“Bridget Brink is exactly who we need in Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district,” said former State Representative and former Lansing City Council Member Joan Bauer. “She has a proven record of standing up to do the right thing, no matter the consequences. Bridget is ready to hit the ground running on day one to deliver results for our community: affordable health care, lower prices, and strong public schools. I am proud to endorse Bridget Brink’s campaign for Congress and I hope you will join me in supporting her.”

“I am deeply honored to receive former Representative Joan Bauer’s endorsement. She is a legend with a long and deep history of service to our community,” said Bridget Brink, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine and Democrat running for Michigan’s Seventh Congressional District. “She has done so much for our city and our state. I am proud to call her a friend and mentor, and having her endorsement means the world to me.”

Joan Bauer represented the 68th District in the Michigan State House of Representatives from 2007 to 2012, during which she served as Chair of the Higher Education Appropriations Committee and Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Women’s Legislative Caucus. She previously served on the Lansing City Council from 1995 to 2006. Prior to running for public office, Bauer taught government at the high school and adult education level. She additionally served as Director of Women’s Programs at the YWCA, Director of the Lansing Community College Foundation, and Director of Volunteer Services at Ingham Regional Medical Center. Bauer currently serves on the Michigan Capitol Commission and the Lansing City Charter Commission, and is involved with many other volunteer activities.
