Matt Maasdam & Tom Barrett Caught Lying About "100%" Made in America Products
BRINK: “Maasdam and Barrett can’t be trusted to stand up for working families, they both claim they want to bring manufacturing back here, but when they had the chance, supported manufacturing in Guatemala, China, and Haiti. That’s not the Michigan way.”
LANSING, MI – New reports reveal that both Matt Maasdam and Tom Barrett have gotten caught lying about “100%” Made in America products and relied on outsourcing American jobs and manufacturing. Both Maasdam and Barrett campaign on bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. but the truth is:
Maasdam has a “history working for companies using offshore labor.” He led a company that outsourced manufacturing and jobs to Guatemala, and was the CEO of a company he claimed was “100%” Made in America but imported parts from China.
Barrett is selling campaign shirts that he says are “100% Made in America” but are really “Made in Haiti” by a non-American company that “offshores its production.”
“As the granddaughter of a Lansing auto worker and proud third-generation union member, it matters to me that we create American jobs and make American products, right here. It’s disturbing that Matt Maasdam and Tom Barrett have lied about selling ‘100%’ Made in America products and relied on outsourcing jobs and manufacturing,” said Democrat Bridget Brink, candidate for Michigan’s 7th Congressional district. “Maasdam and Barrett can’t be trusted to stand up for working families, they both claim they want to bring manufacturing back here, but when they had the chance, supported manufacturing in Guatemala, China, and Haiti. That’s not the Michigan way.”
